Community Hub

A UK Online-funded project running from 1st April 2012 – 31st March 2013.

The Brief from UK Online:

The main focus of the project will be using innovative digital technology as a catalyst to generate social action and create social change across a community.

The Hope Foundation’s Community Hub Project is working with two distinct communities:

1. Brambles Farm Residents

Our ambition is to work with local residents to turn the Brambles Farm Community Centre into a proactive and dynamic digital community hub.

Some of the exciting things happening and planned for Brambles Farm:

          Cyber Coach Exercise sessions

          Community Quizzes

eLearning opportunities in partnership with learndirect, Middlesbrough College, Middlesbrough Community Learning Services and other providers

          Work Club

Lots of Social Media using Skype, video, phones, twitter, facebook and WordPress

See it as it happens on the Hope Community Learning Centre website page or facebook page

2. Local Travelling Community

The Community Hub delivery will enable both direct development of the travellers’ community and their ability to use technologies. As well as developing the travellers’ skills in technology their activity would also raise wider community awareness of the travellers and their lifestyles through the use of media.

Some of the exciting things happening and planned with the Travelling Community:

Lots of Social Media using Skype, video, phones, twitter, facebook and WordPress – the Community will be building its own website documenting its history, traditions and lifestyle

eLearning opportunities in partnership with learndirect, Middlesbrough College, Middlesbrough Community Learning Services and other providers

          Work Club

See it as it happens on the Travelling Community facebook page
